Skill Queue Reimbursement Early Next Week!

An update is currently in the process of being finalized that will reimburse all skillpoints lost when skill queues were inadvertently paused on June 9th.

We aim to deploy this early next week, and will notify all pilots via this news feed once the process is complete.

Apologies for the delay in reimbursement, which has been slowed up a little by the ongoing Ghost Training exploit investigation.

Feel free to discuss this news item in this announcement thread.

15% Off Multiple Character Training! – One Week Left!

With seven days left of the Rogue Swarm Alert, there’s only a week remaining to grab the 15% discount on Multiple Character Training!

During Rogue Swarm Alert, pilots can enjoy 15% off the PLEX price of (MCT) in the New Eden Store. This offer lasts through until June 27th.

Be sure to check out the New Eden Store for more information, which you can access in game by hitting ALT+4.

CONCORD Hulls & The Future

After what has been an eventful week, we felt that it would be prudent to put together more information to explain both the intentions behind the deployment of the CONCORD hulls that were gifted to Fanfest ticket purchasers on June 14, and how we’ll be awarding these hulls in future.

This is the first mass distribution of rewards of this size and value that we’ve undertaken since the introduction of Alpha accounts with EVE Online: Ascension, and in retrospect it’s now very clear to us that methods of distribution that have worked successfully for us in the past are no longer viable.

Intentions & Concerns

The intention with this distribution of hulls was to offer a thank you to all those who made what is, for many, a long and expensive journey and a sizeable commitment to come visit Iceland for Fanfest 2017.

Given the delay between Fanfest and the distribution of the hulls, and the fact that these hulls will soon be available more widely, these were awarded on a per account basis as a bit of an extra thank you for the wait that occurred before they were gifted.

Unfortunately, entirely on our part, an oversight that did happen was a lack of clarity surrounding the extent that the current issues with Ghost Training would affect their distribution. The community was very fast to point this out and without a doubt, this has been a very direct and fast learning experience for us in this new era where open access to New Eden is now a reality.

We’re aware of the concerns around how we gifted these hulls, and we apologise for the issues surrounding how the distribution happened. We would also like to reiterate that we’re fully aware of concerns around people who have been abusing the Ghost Training Exploit receiving large numbers of these hulls, and our customer support team is currently working to ensure that anyone who abused this exploit knowingly and is reprimanded for it, also has these hulls or the ISK generated from the sale of them confiscated.

The distribution of these hulls was of course a big learning experience for us in the new environment we’ve created with open access to New Eden, and we’ve already started to implement changes based on learnings from what happened.

Going forward, any mass rewards gifted as part of ticket sales or other events will be issued via a one-time redeemable code delivered either via email or as a physical card.

The Marshal

The last of these three ships that will be delivered as a ticket sales reward will be the Marshal.

Here’s a quick first glance at how it’s going to look:

To assuage any concerns regarding how this will be delivered, we can clarify that as advertised, this hull will be gifted as a reward for every purchase of both a Fanfest 2017 and EVE Vegas 2017 ticket.

The distribution of this hull will occur after EVE Vegas, via a single use redeemable code that awards one of these hulls for every purchase of both a Fanfest 2017 and EVE Vegas 2017 ticket. The ship will remain time exclusive to those who are eligible for it through until December 2017.

The Future Of These Ships

The Pacifier and Enforcer, in blueprint copy form, are due to become part of the tiered rewards structure for the second phase of Project Discovery, which is focused around Exoplanets and is scheduled to ship as part of the July 2017 release.

There’ll be more information on the next phase of Project Discovery in a dev blog to be released very soon, and there will also be more information regarding the July release over the course of the next week or two on EVE Updates.

In addition to this, the Pacifier and Enforcer may see release in blueprint copy form as part of loot drops in ongoing future events.

The Marshal will remain time exclusive to those gifted it after EVE Vegas through until December, when the intention is to introduce it alongside the Pacifier and Enforcer as part of the tiered reward structure for Project Discovery in blueprint copy form. The Marshal may also be utilized for rewards in the same form as part of ongoing events.

We’d like to re-assure you all that this has of course been a significant learning experience for us. Process changes are in progress and in some instances, have already been made to prevent this kind of issue occurring in the future.

We’re also aware that a few pilots currently have outstanding tickets with customer support to have these ships issued, and we’ll be working through these tickets as fast as possible to make sure that issues are resolved.

Watch the Eveathon charity stream running all weekend!

We urge everyone to support a great cause by tuning into the awesome marathon charity stream running right now and throughout the whole weekend.

After thorough investigation and discussion with the Council of Stellar Management, the decision has been made to declare “Ghost Training” an exploit.

“Ghost Training” is defined as the use of alpha account status to accrue skillpoints at a more rapid rate than they are gained through normal alpha account gameplay, and/or train omega skills on an alpha account.

This notification serves to inform pilots that as of the date and time stamp in its header, the use of Ghost Training is considered an exploit. Any users found to have been knowingly abusing Ghost Training will be subject to reprimand on a case by case basis as per the EVE Online EULA.

We’d like to thank all the pilots who have reported this to us both publicly and via the support and bug reporting systems, and confirm that a fix is expected to be deployed to address this issue next week.

A reimbursement is also incoming for those pilots who may have lost skill training time as part of a related deployment last week, as highlighted in this news item.

Fanfest Pacifier & Enforcer Distribution Complete!

We’re happy to announce that the Pacifier and Enforcer class CONCORD hulls have been now been distributed as part of the Fanfest 2017 ticket purchase rewards.

Those pilots who bought their Fanfest 2017 tickets before 2017/01/01 have been gifted:

  • 1x Enforcer class Recon Cruiser
  • 1x Pacifier class Covert Ops Frigate

Those pilots who bought their Fanfest tickets after 2016/12/31 have been gifted:

  • 1x Pacifier class Covert Ops Frigate

These ships should now be in your redeeming system, one package of ships for each account registered to your email address.

We have received a small number of tickets from pilots who realized that they signed up for their Fanfest tickets with a different email address than the one verified with their EVE Online accounts.

If this is the case for you and you have not received your ships, please contact customer support with a ticket under the Billing category, and our friendly billing GameMasters will be more than happy to assist in getting your ships to you.

Please remember to include your real name and Fanfest ticket order number from Eventbrite in your support ticket so that we can verify your purchase.

If you missed out on getting hold of these ships as part of the Fanfest offers, then fear not!

In the near future they will be available as rewards in game for certain activities, as well as for other promotions and offers in future!

Rogue Swarm Alert! Get involved!

As of the deployment of today’s release, we’re happy to announce that Rogue Swarm Alert is live!

Capsuleers across the cluster can join forces to help CONCORD defeat rogue drone infestations throughout New Eden.

The bigger the drones, the bigger the rewards, and with pilots of all ages, specializations and skill levels welcome and encouraged to assist, the chance to earn rewards such as PLEX, SKINs, drone blueprints and Accelerators is better than ever.

Starting from today through until June 27th, Rogue Swarm Nests have established themselves all over the cluster, as a new strain of rogue AI threatens the population of New Eden.

These nests can be found on your systemwide overview as a beacon that you can warp to. Be sure to be prepared before you head inside!

Once inside, you’ll need to engage and defeat various rogue drone entities in order to spawn a larger leader, or “overmind” of the nest.

Killing this boss will net you rewards that vary depending on its size.

Good luck out there, and remember – there’ll be other capsuleers in space who’re looking to make their fortune too!

Updates To Fighter Balance Changes Coming With The June Release

After consideration of community feedback regarding the changes to fighter damage proposed for the June 2017 release, we have decided to take a second pass at the figures, and lessen the reduction to fighter damage that will be deployed tomorrow.

The thread announcing these changes has been updated to reflect the new values, and more data has been provided in the thread so as to give a clearer understanding of the objectives behind the change.

In addition to these changes, in the near future we will also be looking at further options to balance the rewards for completing specific anomalies in nullsec.

As always, we welcome further constructive feedback in the thread linked above.

June Release Patch Notes & Downtime Info Now Available!

The June release will be deployed in an extended downtime that will run from the normal downtime start of 11:00 UTC, for fifty minutes. We expect that Tranquility will be back online and accepting connections at 11:50 UTC.

For full details of this release, take a look at the full patch notes, and head on over to EVE Updates!

Skill Queue Issues – 2017/06/09

After a script was run yesterday to address an issue with Ghost Training, we received a number of reports that some pilots had noticed their skill queues had been paused and their characters were not training.

The cause for this was identified as an issue with the script that was run, which didn’t behave as expected and has resulted in a significant number of pilots losing training time over the course of the last 24 hours.

We’re currently in the process of applying a fix for this, which will identify all the affected accounts, and will automatically restart training for those who haven’t already logged in and done so.

Once this process has been completed, we will look to compensate all affected pilots in the coming days with a refund of skillpoints lost due to this issue.

Sincerest apologies for any confusion or inconvenience that this issue with training has caused!

Please feel free to continue discussion of this issue in this forum thread.

Calling All EVE Online Designers: EVE Online T-Shirt Design Contest

As we head toward what is already shaping up to be the largest EVE Vegas ever, we want to allow you to have a direct and creative impact on what products will be offered at EVE Vegas and in the EVE Merchandise Store.

We’re happy to announce that we’re now opening a contest for pilots to submit their own T-shirt designs to be printed and sold in the store and at EVE Vegas.

Of course, there are prizes on offer – not to mention fame, (or infamy depending on the nature of your design) – for whoever can create the best designs.

What are we looking for?

Designs should be two colors, within a 12” x 12” area, and should consist of imagery that you think will resonate with fellow capsuleers and capture their imagination.

Please bear in mind that for this competition you can use EVE’s intellectual property in your designs. Also remember that you’ll need to submit your design before July 1st in order for it to be valid.

How will we choose winners?

A panel of CCP employees, including staff from the EVE Online Development team, Community team and our Art team will choose the three best designs. These winners will receive a selection of prizes.

The Prizes:

First Prize:

  • Your T-Shirt design sold at EVE Vegas and in the EVE Merchandise Store
  • Credit on back of T-shirt with your character name
  • $100 store credit at the EVE Merchandise Store
  • Signed Limited Edition of “Frigates of EVE Online: The Cross Sections”
  • 6000 PLEX

Second Prize:

Your T-Shirt design sold in the EVE Merchandise Store

  • Credit on back of T-shirt with your character name
  • $50 store credit at the EVE Merchandise Store
  • Signed standard hard cover of “Frigates of EVE Online: The Cross Sections”
  • 3000 PLEX

Third Prize:

  • $50 store credit at the EVE Merchandise Store
  • 1500 PLEX

Please be aware that EVE Store credit prizes include free shipping.

The Technical Part (sorry, the lawyers made us do it!):

Contest Rules:

  • You must be 18 years old or older to win.
  • No purchase is necessary to enter or win.
  • Thereis no limit on the number of designs you can submit, but you can only win one prize.

Training in the Thunderdome

As with last year, we will be opening Thunderdome to teams practicing for Alliance Tournament. If your team wish to gain access to Thunderdome, please have one of your team captains send an email from the email address registered to their account to with the following information:

  • Who is requesting access (please give alliance and your character name to make verification easier)
  • A list of character IDs (preferred) or character names for characters you would like to have access to the server OR
  • A list of corporation IDs (preferred) or corporation names within your alliance that you would like to have access to the server OR
  • A statement that you would like your entire alliance to have access to the server
  • A list of character IDs (preferred) or character names for characters you wish to have access to the tournament tools (maximum 10)

Whichever of the option you choose for giving an access list, the total number of characters must not exceed 500, and all characters must be in your alliance.

Teams should note that passwords are being pulled from Singularity, so if your current password does not work you should try an older one.

While we try to ensure that Thunderdome is available for practice at all times, Thunderdome may be unavailable at certain times, and may also play host to other events in the leadup to the tournament. Please check the EVE Alliance Tournament Discussion forum for updates on expected interruptions to Thunderdome.

Rules and Regulations

The full rules for Alliance Tournament XV can be now found on the community website at this link, but here’s a quick summary:

  • This tournament is sponsored by the Serpentis Corporation and Serpentis ships have a reduced point cost
  • Point costs have been adjusted for several ship groups
  • In the matches during the final two weekends of the tournament each team will have 3 ship bans instead of the previous 2
  • Tech Two mobile combat drones are allowed
  • Strategic Cruisers are not allowed to fit remote repair modules
  • Capacitor transmitter modules are once again allowed with a maximum of one per ship
  • Rules regarding collusion and “B teams” have been clarified and strengthened
  • Account bans have been added as an explicitly available penalty in the rules
  • The flagship deadline is much earlier than normal at June 13

Please remember that rules may be updated at any time and will be announced on twitter by @EVETournament with the full details being provided in the EVE Alliance Tournament Discussion forum.

Feeding the Beast

For those teams that are participating in the feeder rounds, the structure will be as follows:

  • Round 1: 56 teams, with the 28 teams that win progressing to the Alliance Tournament
  • Round 2: 28 teams, with the 14 teams that lose being eliminated
  • Round 3: 14 teams, with the 6 teams that lose being eliminated (2 teams will receive a bye)
  • Round 4: 8 teams, with the 4 teams that win progressing to the Alliance Tournament

The round of 56 will be completed on June 10, with all remaining matches being played out on June 11. The byes in round 3 will be awarded to the two remaining teams with the highest average points difference across their previous matches.

Seeding for the feeder tournament will be randomized, and will be announced at the end of the week.

Bracket Seeding

This year, we will be using a similar method as used in AT XIV to seed the brackets for the main tournament:

  • Teams will be seeded into a standard 64 team double elimination bracket
  • Any teams that competed in Alliance Tournament XIV will be ordered based on their overall position last year. Teams eliminated in the same round will be ranked within that round based on the average points difference across their matches in AT XIV.
  • Teams that did not compete in AT XIV will be randomly seeded in the remaining positions through a second draw.

While team signups have closed, we’re still accepting applications for commentators until 2017-05-28 23:59, so make sure you send in your application before then. Check out the earlier announcement for more details.

We hope that you’re just as excited as we are for the tournament this year. If you have any remaining questions or requests for clarifications regarding rules, please post in the EVE Alliance Tournament Discussion forum.

And as always: The best ship, is Championship.

On behalf of the Tournament Team
